Summer Camp 2021

With more and more Americans getting vaccinated—and with things moving closer to getting back to normal, slowly but surely—the guidance around what's safe and what's not is constantly evolving.

In March, the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) provided recommendations for what fully vaccinated individuals can start to safely enjoy after their shots. And while things like getting together with grandparents and traveling are back on the table, the reality is that kids aren't eligible for the COVID-19 vaccine—yet. Children generally aren't affected as severely, but families still need to follow safety precautions since kids can get COVID-19 and spread it even if they don't display any symptoms.

That said, there are certainly more things for kids to enjoy this summer—especially once their parents have been vaccinated.

Here's some great news: M&M Academy Summer camp 2021 is considered a safe option.

"Kids need to have social activities," says Sara Bode, M.D., medical director at Nationwide Children's Hospital in Columbus, Ohio. And, says Dr. Bode,  "Organized places like summer camps can be a great way to get them enriching activities in a controlled environment where safety measures can be in place."

In order to meet the needs of all families, this summer, M&M Academy is offering both online and in person camps.

YES! Five Weeks of Safe, Nurturing, & Fun-Filled Camp!

2021 Safety Guidelines for Summer Camps

Before you sign your children up for a summer program, here's the latest guidance from the CDC and AAP to consider:

  • Camp directors should encourage frequent hand-washing, mask-wearing, and social distancing.
  • Everyone —regardless of their vaccination status—should continue wearing a mask in public.
  • A healthy environment should be maintained, meaning regular cleaning and disinfecting, and the sharing of items should be discouraged.
  • Campers, staff, and parents should stay home if they're feeling sick or have been a close contact of someone with COVID-19.
  • If camp is taking place inside, there should be as much ventilation as possible.
  • Outdoor summer camps that consist of small groups of children that say together all day, each day are the lowest risk. Summer camps where kids mix between groups and aren't required to space out will be a greater risk.
  • Campers shall bring in their own meals and eat only within their small groups.
  • Camp directors shall also have a plan in place—like asking a staff or camper to stay home—should someone become sick.

The Bottom Line

With safety measures in place, camp is a GO!!!. "During the summer, it is important that children begin to re-establish connections with their friends, peers, and non-parental adults in an environment that supports their development while also consistently practicing the recommended principles to limit the spread of SARS-CoV-2," says the AAP.

Short Story Competition 2021

in Awards

Why is it important for kids to write?

Statistics show that reading helps develop your writing skills, but writing helps develop your cognitive growth, organizational abilities, and the power to influence others through persuasion.  In short, writing powers the brain.

Studies show that children who practice creative writing more often are generally better in other subjects too like math, science, and languages. Challenging themselves to come up with creative thoughts and problem solve, builds the confidence and discipline students need to succeed in all areas of life.

Creativity seems to diminish as we get older. So, encourage your children to write, to be creative, to use their imagination, and then praise them when they do.  Build their confidence to clearly communicate their point of view, their thoughts, and their feelings.  Then think about publishing those precious stories to read over and over.

Take few minutes to read the three winning stories from M&M Academy Short Story Competition 2021.

Quarter One Award Ceremony

in Awards

We are happy to share with you, our congratulations to the students awarded this quarter.

This is truly a mark of accomplishment and hard work that had earned them this award which is a symbol of their dedication.

Dear parents, in this unprecedented COVID crisis, you stepped in and helped, in remarkable ways with your child’s education at home. We all know it is not easy as some of you have school, work and other responsibilities, and we know it is not the ideal way of teaching, but your dedication to your children's education has not gone unappreciated.

These awards are not for students only, they are going to all the parents in recognition of their dedication, effort, support and patience.

While teaching is a lot different this year, all our teachers showed that they are up to the challenge by being the teacher as well as a big emotional and tech support to the students and their parents. Teachers don’t doubt that your efforts are going unnoticed, we definitely see you !!,

There is no better feeling than the satisfaction of a job well done!

Please join us and congratulate the students who were awarded this quarter. Every one of our students did a great job, unfortunately we had to choose only a few. I know that we will have new students shining in Quarter 2 inshaa Allah.

Please find attached the list of our students with the award given.

May Allah bless our students, the parents, the staff and all our Muslim Ummah and keep us safe.

Jazakum Allah khayran
